We are the dream our grandmothers lived for.
There’s a lot that women carry — and a lot of it is invisible.
There’s the obvious stuff — work, home, family, business, showing up for everyone else. But there’s also the other load — the mental and emotional weight that sits just under the surface. The thinking. The planning. The worrying. The constant background list that never really switches off. It’s the effort of holding it all together, even when no one else notices.
Some days it’s exhausting. Some days it’s lonely. And some days it’s easy to wonder if you’re getting anywhere at all. And even with all of that, we’re living the lives our grandmothers once dreamed about.
They didn’t have the choices we have now. Their dreams lived quietly — in conversations they couldn’t finish, in letters they never sent, in the quiet hope that maybe one day things would be different.
And yet here we are. Still figuring it out and carrying a lot. But we're also doing the things they once only dreamed of — owning our own money, choosing love on our own terms, speaking freely, building lives and businesses in our own names.
If it feels heavy, it’s not because you’re failing. It’s because you’re carrying something new and unfamiliar. The good news is, you get to decide what you keep carrying — and what you finally set down.
It’s easy to look sideways and compare ourselves to other women — women who seem to be doing more, having more, coping better. But rarely do we look back and see how far we’ve come. Rarely do we realise we’re standing on ground that other women fought hard for.
Sometimes we sweat the small stuff and don’t even see how much freedom we already have — or how often we get in our own way without even realising it.
We’re not here to be perfect. We’re here to live freer than they ever could. And that starts by seeing the bigger story we’re part of.
Maybe the real shift now is realising you don’t have to carry the load at all — not the pressure to prove yourself, not the silent expectations to do it all, not the old fears of what might happen if you put something down.
You’re free to lay it down — the endless running, the second-guessing, the invisible work of keeping everyone else comfortable — all of it.
Our grandmothers and their mothers carried it because they had to.
We get to choose differently now.
And if you stop and listen, even for a moment, you’ll hear them — the women who came before you — saying:
"Lay it down.
Trust yourself.
Take up your life.
It’s yours now."
You’re not here to carry everything they couldn’t.
You’re here to live what they longed for.
And that’s more than enough.
